Bells, TN

Bells is a Crockett County city at the meeting of U.S. 70A, U.S. 79, and State Route 88, with 2,463 residents in the 2020 census. John and William Bell established the settlement in the late 1820s, and the city incorporated in 1889. The South Fork of the Forked Deer River passes just south of town, giving the highway-centered community a nearby water edge. Bells Depot became the town's name as the railroad and roads connected it to the wider West Tennessee farming area. Bells' working map is tied to frozen vegetables: The PictSweet Company has its headquarters on PictSweet Drive, making the food company one of the clearest modern landmarks in town. The city maintains gas, sewer, and water utilities, and local routines run through schools, churches, municipal services, and Crockett County's surrounding towns. Bells is a highway junction with a river just below it and a food company in the middle of its local economy.
