Benoit, MS

Benoit is a small, quiet community located in Bolivar County, right in the heart of the Mississippi Delta. Home to around 350 people, the town is best known for the historic Burrus House, often referred to as the Baby Doll House. Built in the late 1850s, it is the only surviving antebellum mansion in the county. The home gained widespread attention when it served as the filming set for the 1956 movie Baby Doll, which featured several local residents in background roles. After a dedicated restoration effort, the landmark stands today as a proud centerpiece of the area's history.

Life in Benoit moves at an easy, unhurried pace, with flat Delta farmland stretching in every direction. Local students are zoned for the West Bolivar Consolidated School District, with campuses located in neighboring communities.
