Benzonia, MI

Founded in the 1850s as an educational colony, Benzonia grew up around a small hilltop college campus. Even though the original schools closed over a century ago, that early layout still shapes the village today. Stately old buildings and tree-lined streets give the area a timeless feel, anchored by the historic Mills Community House, which continues to serve as a favorite gathering spot and home to the local library.

Perched just above the southeastern shores of Crystal Lake at the junction of U.S. 31 and M-115, Benzonia offers easy access to the best of Benzie County. Day-to-day community activity revolves around Academy Park, where residents enjoy a playground, summer gatherings under the pavilion, and a popular ice rink in the winter.
