Cyclists get plenty of use out of dedicated bike boulevards and the scenic Ohlone Greenway trail, though you will quickly notice the steep incline as you head eastward.

Near the bay, West Berkeley offers a very different environment filled with converted warehouses, artisan workshops, biotech offices, and residential homes. The area also preserves thousands of years of Indigenous heritage at the historic West Berkeley Shellmound site near Strawberry Creek. North Shattuck remains famous as the birthplace of California cuisine and the original Peet's Coffee, while music fans still gather at iconic all-ages venues like 924 Gilman.
