Berryville, TX

Berryville is a Henderson County town at the east end of the county, on the west side of Lake Palestine just north of Blackburn Dam. The 2020 census counted 824 residents. State Highway 155 connects the town with Frankston and the wider Tyler area, while Cobb Creek, lake subdivisions, city hall, the fire department, and the Berryville Community Church shape the local map. Frankston Independent School District serves the town, with the high school in Frankston.

The town grew around James Berry's grocery store and the neighbors who worked to get Berryville incorporated; Berry became its first mayor, and the name followed him. In the early years, roads were sand and gravel, and the subdivisions—Thousand Pines, Holiday Hills, and Three Points—kept separate water systems. Erwin Berry later ran a marina and campground behind the store on Cobb Creek. Today, Reds Landing gives residents a city-managed place to reach the water, with a dock, pavilions, and keyholder access managed through an agreement with the Upper Neches River Water Authority. Berryville is a small lake community where city services and shoreline life sit close together.
