Bethany, IL

Bethany is a Moultrie County village along Illinois Route 121, with the West Okaw River and the open farm country of central Illinois close by. The highway runs along the village's northern and eastern sides, linking Bethany with Sullivan to the southeast and Decatur to the northwest. Its daily map is straightforward: homes and businesses near the road, fields beyond town, and school traffic moving between Bethany and Findlay.

Okaw Valley Community Unit School District 302 gives Bethany a regional role in education. The district was formed in 2001 when Bethany and Findlay consolidated, and it now places elementary and high school buildings in Bethany with the middle school in Findlay. That arrangement keeps the two communities connected through buses, sports, families, and school events. Bethany's river, route, and district make it a classic small Illinois village: a compact home base with farm roads and nearby towns filling out the wider daily circuit.
