Bethlehem, GA

Bethlehem is a small Barrow County town on Georgia 11, four miles south of Winder and within the Athens–Atlanta road orbit. The town took its name from Bethlehem Methodist Church, and the Christmas theme is built into the street map: Mary, Joseph, and Manger are not decorative nicknames but actual local bearings. Each year the town square hosts a live nativity, and the post office’s Bethlehem cancellation has made the town a holiday mail stop for generations.

There is a work story behind the seasonal identity too. Harrison Poultry opened its Bethlehem processing plant in 1958, turning poultry into a long-running part of the town’s day-to-day economy. City Hall also houses the town library, keeping municipal business and books under the same roof.
