About Bevil Oaks

Bevil Oaks grew from two subdivisions, Bevil Acres and River Oaks, before incorporating as a city in 1963. It sits along the north edge of Jefferson County, where Pine Island Bayou forms the Hardin County line and Highway 105 runs along the southern edge. Sour Lake is eight miles west, U.S. 96 is six miles east, and Beaumont is farther down the same road. The school boundary changed in 2018, when the community moved from Beaumont ISD into Hardin-Jefferson ISD. There is no old courthouse square to sum up Bevil Oaks; its local shape comes from subdivision streets, bayou country, and the Golden Triangle around it.
