About Big Lake
Big Lake is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in southern Noble County, Indiana, surrounding the natural lake of the same name. Indiana State Road 109 forms the eastern edge, leading north toward Wolf Lake and south toward Columbia City. The lake is connected to the Tippecanoe River, which flows west toward the Wabash, and water occupies a large share of the mapped community.
Big Lake’s homes and roads follow the shoreline, with little of a conventional town grid. The lake’s outlet and inlet give the CDP a water pattern that is easy to follow from the road. Crooked Lake lies upstream, Albion is the Noble County seat to the northeast, and the Whitley County line forms the southern edge. Fishing, lake views, wetland ground, and State Road 109 give the place its daily orientation, while nearby Wolf Lake supplies another small-community connection. Big Lake is an Indiana community where a natural lake, a river headwater, a state road, and two county lines meet.
