Big Pine is a census-designated community in Inyo County, California, situated in the Owens Valley between the Sierra Nevada and the White Mountains. Located fifteen miles south of Bishop near the Owens River, the scenic landscape has served as a filming location for classic films such as The Maltese Falcon. The community operates the Big Pine Unified School District and lies near the ancient bristlecone pine forests, which contain some of the oldest trees in the world.
