Blairstown, NJ

Blairstown is the village-center census-designated place within Blairstown Township in Warren County. Its historic district follows Main Street, East Avenue, Douglas Street, Water Street, and Blair Place. A stone grist mill built in 1825, older homes, churches, and commercial buildings show how the village grew before the modern highway pattern. The Blairstown Railway arrived in 1877, and the district’s surviving buildings preserve that earlier commercial and civic center. State Route 94 now passes around the historic core, leaving Main Street with a distinct local street pattern.

The Catherine Dickson Hofman Branch of the Warren County Library is a current meeting point for the township. After rebuilding, the 13,000-square-foot branch reopened in May 2025 with a makerspace, audiovisual studio, community room, and gazebo. The library’s presence on Lambert Road adds a newer civic facility to a village whose older community activity is concentrated along Main Street. Because the target place is a CDP inside the larger township, Blairstown’s story is best read through that village core: historic buildings, the library, the municipal building on Route 94, and the surrounding Warren County countryside.
