Blanchard, PA

Blanchard is a Centre County census-designated place in Liberty Township, where the 2020 census counted 597 residents. The community lies in the valley of Bald Eagle Creek, a tributary of the West Branch Susquehanna River, with Eagleville across the creek to the southeast. Pennsylvania Route 150 passes through Blanchard, leading northeast to Beech Creek and southwest toward Interstate 80 near Milesburg. Bald Eagle State Park sits about three miles southwest along the same route.

Blanchard is part of the State College metropolitan area, but its immediate map is creek valley, township roads, and the small post-office community around PA 150. The name was chosen for attorney John Blanchard after an earlier Eagleville post office created a naming problem. That older name still survives across the creek, while Blanchard marks the post-office and road stop. The place carries Centre County's layered geography in a small frame: a creek, a state park, a highway, and neighboring names from different eras. The creek and route keep the village connected to both county and river-valley destinations.
