About Blende
Blende is an unincorporated Pueblo County community on the south side of the Pueblo area, part of the Pueblo metropolitan region and served by the Pueblo post office rather than its own. Its setting is the Arkansas River valley, where farms, irrigation, highways, and the larger city’s services overlap. The community is split between Pueblo County School District 70 and Pueblo School District 60, with North Mesa and South Mesa elementary schools serving the District 70 portions. That arrangement makes Blende a named place on the edge of a larger urban system, with school and mail routes crossing administrative lines.

The surrounding valley carries both agricultural and industrial history. Pueblo grew as a railroad, steel, coal, and river city, while nearby Pueblo West developed on ranch and irrigation land west of town. The Arkansas River and Pueblo Reservoir give the region its water and recreation framework, and Interstate 25 connects Blende to Pueblo and the wider Front Range. Blende’s practical bearings are the roads, school boundaries, post office service, and nearby Pueblo’s city services. It is a small unincorporated community whose identity comes from how it fits into Pueblo rather than from a standalone municipal center.
