Bloomfield, IA

Bloomfield is the Davis County seat in southeastern Iowa, close to the Missouri line. The 2020 census counted 2,682 residents. It was incorporated in 1855, and its county-seat role gives the town a compact civic center surrounded by farm country. Bloomfield's history also carries a Civil War-era jolt: in October 1864, a small Confederate raiding party entered town, one of the episodes that still separates its story from a generic courthouse-square timeline. These days, the Davis County Fairgrounds and Fort Bloomfield Rodeo keep the agricultural calendar visible each summer, while the Davis County Country and Old Time Music Festival adds a fall note.
