About Bluewell

Bluewell is a Mercer County community on U.S. 52, positioned halfway between Bluefield and Bramwell—the simple geographic fact behind its name. WV Route 20 ends here, and the road puts Bluewell beside one of the area’s most recognizable landmarks, Pinnacle Rock. The state park grew around a 3,100-foot sandstone formation and includes Jimmy Lewis Lake, with a two-mile trail connecting the rock and lake. Bluewell also serves as a gateway point for riders using the Pocahontas Trail section of the Hatfield-McCoy system. It is a place where the road map, the rock, and the old coal-country landscape all meet.
