Bodfish, CA

Bodfish sits in the southern Kern River Valley, east of Bakersfield and close to Lake Isabella. The place took its name from George Homer Bodfish, an early settler, and its older local story is tied to mining, ranching, and the Kern River. The modern outline is still read through those physical markers: the river, the reservoir, and the roads running through the southern Sierra.
