Bokoshe, OK

Taking its name from the Choctaw word for "little creek," Bokoshe is a small rural community tucked into the green countryside of Le Flore County in eastern Oklahoma. The area was originally settled by the Choctaw Nation and was once known locally as Shake Rag before a post office was established in the late 1800s. When railroads arrived around the turn of the century to serve nearby coal mines, the town shifted to its current spot and enjoyed a lively boom as a busy mining and agricultural hub.

Today, Bokoshe offers a quiet, slow-paced lifestyle centered around open land and a close-knit neighborhood feel.
