About Bolivar

Bolivar is a city and the county seat of Polk County, Missouri, named in honor of South American revolutionary leader Simón Bolívar. Originally settled around Keeling Spring by migrants from Tennessee, the community of approximately 11,170 is the home of Southwest Baptist University, a private institution operating in the city since 1879. Public education is administered by the Bolivar R-I School District.
