Bolton Landing, NY

Bolton Landing is a hamlet and census-designated place in the Town of Bolton, Warren County, on the western shore of Lake George in the Adirondacks. The 2020 census counted 518 residents. Founded in 1799, it first served as a stop for logging vessels; after Civil War hotels and estates changed the shoreline, and the landing became the town’s main lake community. The Sagamore opened in 1883, giving Bolton Landing a long resort history without erasing the working lake village underneath.

Lake George remains the organizing feature. Bolton Landing is about ten miles north of Lake George village and is the closest community to the state park lands and islands around the Narrows. The Marcella Sembrich Opera Museum honors the singer who made a teaching studio here, and the Sagamore Hotel Complex and museum are listed on the National Register. Marinas, beaches, downtown shops, town offices, and lake roads all sit within the same narrow shoreline. Bolton Landing is a place where Adirondack landscape, lake travel, music, and hotel history meet.
