Bonaparte is a city in Van Buren County, Iowa, United States. The 2020 census counted 359 residents. The town is located on the Des Moines River and contains a number of historical buildings, including a large pottery. The area was established in 1837 by William Meek, and named Meek's Mill. Bonaparte makes sense once you see how its past, landscape, and current gathering spots overlap.
