Borrego Springs is a census-designated place in northeastern San Diego County, California, situated on the valley floor of the Sonoran Desert at the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains. Positioned in the Low Desert region, the community is completely surrounded by the expansive Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. The park was named after Spanish explorer Juan Bautista de Anza and the Spanish word for lamb, honoring the native bighorn sheep.
