Bostic, NC

Bostic grew up as a late-19th-century railroad stop in the foothills of Rutherford County. Originally called Black Oak, the community took shape when the tracks arrived in the 1880s, centering daily routines around the depot and the meeting point of two major train lines. Today, the town holds onto that low-key, rural atmosphere, giving residents spacious lots and scenic foothill views just a short drive from Forest City and Rutherfordton.

Historic roots run deep along Old Sunshine Highway and Pea Ridge Road, where century-old buildings and classic Craftsman homes dot the winding lanes. Residents enjoy quiet country roads, plenty of open land, and quick access to hiking in the nearby South Mountains and fishing along the Broad River. It is a welcoming, easygoing place to settle down if you want peaceful country living close to Western North Carolina's outdoor recreation.
