About Boswell

Boswell sits in Grant Township in southern Benton County along US Highway 41, a small town founded by Parnaham Boswell in 1872. State Road 352 and the Kankakee, Beaverville and Southern Railroad run east through town, while Goose Creek follows the south side before joining Mud Pine Creek farther southeast. Those roads, rails, and water lines give Boswell a clear agricultural crossroads shape. The town's local nickname, the Hub of the Universe, fits the way several routes gather around a very small street grid.

The town council meets on the second Tuesday of each month at the Boswell Community Center at 108 East Main Street. A restored Carnegie library and a town park add familiar civic stops, while Benton County's school system serves local children through Prairie Crossing Elementary and Benton Central Jr-Sr High School. Street and water crews, a wastewater superintendent, and the town's elected council are all listed from the same municipal page. Boswell is small enough that the library, park, railroad, and council room all feel like parts of the same short map.
