Boys Ranch, TX

Set along U.S. 385 in the Texas Panhandle, Boys Ranch is a close-knit community built around Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, a historic residential youth campus. Founded in 1939 on the site of old Tascosa, a legendary 1880s frontier boomtown, the ranch started when boys moved into the former county courthouse. Today, nearly everyone living here is connected to the organization. Most residents work as houseparents, counselors, teachers, and support staff who keep the campus and its dedicated school district running throughout the year.

Community traditions run deep, anchored by the long-running Boys Ranch Rodeo and local history at the Julian Bivins Museum. The campus functions as its own small town with a post office, athletic fields, and dining halls, while U.S. 385 offers a straight route south to Vega and east toward Amarillo for major shopping and services.
