About Briggs

Briggs is a Burnet County census-designated place with 101 residents and 53 housing units in the 2020 Census. Berry Creek rises about a mile and a half southwest of the community and runs southeast for 32 miles to the San Gabriel River through gently rolling agricultural land. The settlement was renamed Briggs in 1898, when a local physician petitioned to honor his mother-in-law; cotton gins, a school, and general stores supported the early town. Its current working landscape includes Firefly Aerospace's 200-acre Texas Rocket Ranch, where launch vehicles are produced, integrated, and tested. Briggs connects a rural creek corridor and an early farm town with a present-day aerospace production site.
