Broadalbin, NY

Broadalbin is a town in Fulton County at the southern end of Great Sacandaga Lake, with the eastern town line running into Saratoga County. The first European settlement came near the present village around 1770, after the area was included in the Sacandaga Patent of 1741; the town was organized in 1793 from parts of Johnstown and Mayfield. Its name comes from Breadalbane in Scotland, and the town still contains a village with the same name. Great Sacandaga Lake is the big geographic fact here: the lake reaches into the town, with a public boat launch off County Route 110 and 5,155 acres of the lake inside town boundaries. Roughly half the town lies in the Adirondack Park, so the same address can read as both a southern Adirondack outpost and a route between Saratoga and the Fulton County communities around it.
