Brockway, PA

Little Toby Creek runs through Brockway, a Jefferson County borough laid out as Brockwayville in 1836 and named for Alonzo and John S. Brockway. U.S. 219 follows the valley, connecting the borough northeast to Ridgway and south to DuBois. The creek flows north toward the Clarion River, giving Brockway a clear Allegheny foothills geography. Brockway Area School District keeps elementary and junior/senior high education in the borough, while the old Brockwayville Passenger Depot remains a National Register landmark. The town also has an industrial chapter: Brockway Glass Company began in 1907 and later grew through the acquisition of Hazel-Atlas plants. Brockway's map still joins creek, highway, school, rail depot, and glass-making history in one narrow valley.
