Brookeville, MD

Brookeville is a historic town in northern Montgomery County, famous for serving as the "U.S. Capital for a Day" when President James Madison took refuge here during the War of 1812. Founded by Quakers in the late 1700s, the village has kept its peaceful, rural character intact across two centuries.
