Brookfield, WI

Brookfield is one of the most popular suburbs in the Milwaukee metro area, located just ten miles west of downtown in Waukesha County. What began as quiet farmland and a nineteenth-century rail stop developed into a bustling residential community after incorporating in 1954. Today, people moving to the area are drawn by its quiet neighborhoods, spacious yards, and the highly rated Elmbrook School District. It offers the relaxed feel of a classic suburban community alongside quick highway access for an easy morning commute.

Rather than centering on a historic downtown square, the city is laid out along several convenient commercial corridors. Bluemound Road serves as the main retail spine, lined with popular grocery stores, restaurants, and outdoor shopping destinations like The Corners of Brookfield. Capitol Drive offers another major commercial strip to the north, while Interstate 94 makes trips into Milwaukee straightforward. A solid local economy also means many residents work close to home, with major employers in town including Milwaukee Tool, corporate business parks, and Ascension Elmbrook Hospital.

Community gatherings and cultural events are easy to come by throughout the year. The Civic Center on Calhoun Road serves as a regular meeting point, hosting an active summer farmers market and municipal events. Over at Mitchell Park, the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts brings the community together for gallery exhibits, youth classes, and the weekly Starry Nights outdoor summer concert series. For runners and cyclists, the city's Greenway Trail System offers more than eleven miles of off-road paths connecting local parks, schools, and residential pockets.

Fox Brook Park is another standout spot for outdoor recreation, especially during the warmer months. This county park features a spring-fed lake with a sandy swimming beach, a paved walking loop, fishing areas, and a dedicated dog swim area.
