About Brookings
Brookings is a coastal city in Curry County, Oregon, situated near the California border at the mouth of the Chetco River. Founded in 1908 by lumber executive John E. Brookings, the community of approximately 6,700 is home to the busy Port of Brookings Harbor and the scenic Azalea Park. Historically, nearby Mount Emily is notable as the only site in the mainland United States to be bombed by an enemy aircraft during World War II.
