Brownsdale, MN

Brownsdale is a small city in northwestern Mower County, about nine miles northeast of Austin along the Cedar River and State Highway 56. It was platted in 1856 and named for Andrew D. Brown, a lumber businessman. Highway 56 now links the city with Interstate 90 six miles to the south and gives Brownsdale a practical connection to Austin and southeastern Minnesota. The river country around town is a mix of farm fields, creek bottoms, and low wooded stretches.
