About Buchanan

Locals say Buchanan as Buck-HAN-uhn, not the way outsiders often guess. Founded in 1856 as the new Haralson County seat, the city still revolves around its 1892 Queen Anne courthouse, restored and listed on the National Register. U.S. 27 bypasses the town to the east, leaving the courthouse square and surrounding shops to carry the center of town. Buchanan is west Georgia in a courthouse-and-name story.
