Buchanan Lake Village, TX

Buchanan Lake Village is an unincorporated community on the western shore of Lake Buchanan in Llano County, about sixteen miles northeast of Llano. The 2020 census counted 720 residents. The residential development probably began in the 1970s, and its setting makes the name immediately clear: roads and homes run toward the water, while the lake supplies the big horizon. Lake Buchanan is part of the Colorado River's Highland Lakes system and serves as a reservoir for water, power, flood control, and recreation.

Village life runs through the Buchanan Lake Village Land Owners Association, which manages the parks and organizes cleanup days, meetings, and seasonal events. The July 4 parade starts at Maxwell's Slough and winds through the village with bikes, golf carts, and ATVs joining the procession. Boat ramps and fishing are part of the everyday picture, though the reservoir's water level can change how easy it is to reach the water. Buchanan Lake Village is a lakeside place in the most literal sense, with community business and holiday traditions arranged around the shoreline.
