Buffalo, IN

Buffalo is a White County census-designated place in Liberty Township, on the farm-road grid of northwestern Indiana. Its post office dates to 1851, while the town was platted in 1886 and named for Buffalo, New York, the home state of an early settler. The settlement never gained a railroad connection, so its history stayed tied to mail, local roads, and the surrounding agricultural country. Buffalo's small footprint sits within the wider White County network that runs toward Monon, Monticello, and the rest of the county.

North White School Corporation includes Buffalo in a district that also reaches Monon, Reynolds, and nearby rural townships.
