Bunnlevel, NC

Bunnlevel is an unincorporated census-designated place along U.S. 401 in Stewarts Creek Township, Harnett County. The 2020 census counted 516 residents. Harnett County Schools and Overhills High School serve the surrounding area, while Lillington supplies county government and Fayetteville fills in larger shopping, healthcare, and employment needs. The community’s local map is the highway, rural roads, homes, churches, and fire services rather than a separate municipal center.

Bunnlevel was first known as Bunn’s Level, after local resident Joseph Bunn established a post office in 1846. The place was incorporated by state law for a time but no longer operates as an active municipality, which is why it now reads as a rural community inside Harnett County’s service network. U.S. 401 keeps Bunnlevel tied to the Sandhills corridor, while school routes and everyday errands connect it to Overhills, Lillington, and Fayetteville. The old name still fits a settlement organized around a road crossing and the surrounding farm country today on these roads.
