About Burdick

Burdick sits at the north edge of the Flint Hills, a former railroad community settled by Swedish immigrants in the 1880s. The town began as Linsdale and took the Burdick name when the Strong City–Superior line arrived. Centre USD 397 now ties Burdick to schools in Lost Springs and Lincolnville across a wide farm-and-ranch district. A Labor Day celebration, begun in 1973, keeps the old town grid in use, while the family-owned Burdick Meat Locker and Burdick Oil Company remain concrete service points in this agricultural crossroads.
