About Burkeville

Burkeville is a quiet, historic community in Nottoway County with around 400 residents, situated right where Route 360 and Route 460 cross. The town originally grew in the late 19th century as a busy railroad hub known as Burke's Junction. Today, that central crossroads position makes it easy to get around Southside Virginia, giving locals direct highway access to Farmville to the west and Richmond to the northeast.

Outdoor recreation is one of the best parts of living in the area, starting right at the edge of town with High Bridge Trail State Park. The former rail line is now a scenic 32-mile trail for walking, biking, and horseback riding. Just down the road, Twin Lakes State Park offers swimming, camping, and boating on the water.
