About Burney
Burney is an unincorporated mountain community in Shasta County located at the base of Burney Mountain, an extinct volcano. Historically the home of the Atsugewi people, the town is a popular destination for fly fishing, with wild brown and native rainbow trout filling Burney Creek. The nearby McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park is home to the stunning Burney Falls. Additionally, Lake Britton and the McCloud River Railroad near the park served as the filming location for the famous train trestle scene in the film Stand by Me.
