About Caledonia
Caledonia is a census-designated place on the Goose River near its meeting with the Red River of the North. It began as Goose River, a Hudson's Bay Company steamship post, and later served the stage route north toward Fort Garry, now Winnipeg. Traill County records that Caledonia was the county seat from 1875 until 1891, while the National Register describes its historic bridge as a connector across the Goose River. Today the community lies within Hillsboro Public School District 9, a small remnant of a once busier Red River Valley crossroads.
