Calhoun, GA

Calhoun is a north Georgia city in Gordon County, tied closely to Cherokee history and the later development of northwest Georgia's textile and floor-covering economy. New Echota Historic Site, just outside the city, preserves the former capital of the Cherokee Nation, while the Roland Hayes Museum honors the pioneering classical tenor born in the area. Calhoun's story includes difficult nineteenth-century history, regional industry, and a practical role along I-75 between Atlanta and Chattanooga.
