About Cambridge
Cambridge is Henry County’s seat, and the county’s own history has kept it in that role since 1843. Before the village took shape, Rev. Ithamar Pillsbury owned much of the land that became the town; the post office name changed from Strawberry Grove to Cambridge in 1844, and the village incorporated in 1861. That gives Cambridge a clear county-seat feel without needing a long list of landmarks: courthouse business, a single local school district, and a town plan built around county government. The local shorthand is straightforward—Henry County, a renamed prairie village, and the place where the county’s official work happens.
