About Cammack Village

Cammack Village is a Pulaski County city whose origins are tied to wartime housing on land owned by Wiley Dan Cammack. During the 1930s he allowed a Works Progress Administration road project; in World War II he turned the land over for federally subsidized housing connected to Camp Joseph T. Robinson. The rows of Army-built homes led to incorporation on April 5, 1943, so the city could provide police and fire protection. Cammack Village is now surrounded by Little Rock, with Thomas Jefferson Elementary inside its boundaries and the Little Rock School District serving the city. The local shorthand is wartime housing, Cammack land, and a small city beside Little Rock.
