About Camp Nelson

Camp Nelson is a census-designated place in Tulare County, California, situated in the Sierra Nevada mountains twelve miles east of Springville. Established in 1886 as a homestead by John Nelson, the mountain community has a year-round population of one hundred and fifty residents. Camp Nelson hosts the annual summer Mountain Festival in the Camp Nelson Meadow, drawing visitors to its giant sequoia groves. The community is served by the Springville Union Elementary School District.
