Camp Swift, TX

Located about seven miles north of downtown Bastrop and roughly 40 minutes east of Austin along Highway 95, Camp Swift offers quiet, spread-out living with deep historical roots. The community originally took shape around a massive World War II Army training post built in the 1940s. Today, around 8,000 residents call the area home, drawn by scenic Central Texas pines, larger lots, and affordable living within easy reach of the greater Austin metro.

Day-to-day life here connects closely with neighboring Bastrop, where residents head for grocery runs, local restaurants, community events, and Bastrop ISD schools. Outdoor recreation sits right down the road at Lake Bastrop, a popular local spot for weekend boating, hiking, and camping. A portion of the original grounds still operates as a Texas Army National Guard training facility, giving the surrounding neighborhoods a peaceful, low-density feel with plenty of elbow room and quick highway access.
