The Clackamas County Fairgrounds gives Canby a regional event calendar that reaches well beyond the annual August fair and rodeo held there since 1907. In summer 2026, the grounds also hosted four weekends of the Oregon Renaissance Faire and a three-day tribute-band festival with on-site camping. Agriculture remains visible downtown as well: the Canby Farmers Market runs from May through October, while the city and local organizations stage a First Thursday Night Market every month of the year. Two self-guided heritage routes begin in downtown parks, and the Canby Depot Museum occupies an early railroad station. Those features connect today's events with a town platted in 1870 on land once called Baker Prairie. Canby Area Transit's free local Loop serves more than 30 stops, while Route 99X links Oregon City, Canby, and Woodburn and connects with regional bus systems at each end.

Outdoor choices include Canby Community Park beside the Molalla River, with a playground, ball field, picnic sites, and a youth fishing pond, plus trails and a boat launch at the nearby confluence of the Molalla, Pudding, and Willamette rivers. Canby had 18,171 residents in 2020; its July 2025 estimate was 18,004. Housing estimates for 2020 through 2024 showed 70 percent owner occupancy, a $528,500 median owner-occupied value, $2,254 in median monthly owner costs with a mortgage, and $1,542 median gross rent. Median household income was $100,989, workers averaged about 25 minutes of travel to work, and 21 percent of residents were age 65 or older. Canby Public Library opens six days a week and runs a Maker Lab where community members can learn tools and techniques through scheduled projects.
