Cando, ND

Cando is Towner County’s seat, founded in 1884 with a name meant to capture the pioneers’ “can do” spirit. The courthouse still sits at the center of civic business, while Main Street’s Pioneer Museum holds the older story. Cando’s setting is the Prairie Pothole region, so the city’s edges open into farm ground, wetlands, and waterfowl country rather than a suburban fringe.
