Canton is a town in Haywood County, North Carolina, situated along both sides of the Pigeon River west of Asheville. Named after Canton, Ohio, and historic as the site of the ancient Garden Creek archaeological area, the community of approximately 4,419 is served by the Haywood County Schools district for public primary and secondary education.
