Captains Cove, VA

Captains Cove is an Accomack County CDP of 1,544 residents in the 2020 census, a residential and recreational community on the west shore of Chincoteague Bay beside Maryland. The bay sets the scene, and the built pattern is a club community with its own shared facilities rather than a conventional town center. Water, golf, and shared recreation all sit inside the same neighborhood. The community's northern edge meets Maryland, so the state line is part of the local geography. Its daily life is organized around the Captain's Cove Golf & Yacht Club: a nine-hole course, indoor and outdoor pools, fitness center, tennis and basketball courts, boat ramp and slips, banquet room, playground, dog park, and Marina Club Restaurant.

The mix gives residents both land-based recreation and direct boat access without leaving the community. The local picture is a bayfront CDP where the road home leads to club facilities, a marina, and a restaurant as much as to ordinary residential streets.
