Captiva, FL

Captiva Island sits just north of Sanibel along Southwest Florida's Gulf Coast, connected to its neighbor by the Blind Pass bridge. With only a few hundred year-round residents, it has a quiet, unhurried atmosphere tucked between the Gulf of Mexico and Pine Island Sound. Captiva Drive serves as the main road through town, winding past beachfront homes, cozy rental cottages, and paths where golf carts and bikes outnumber cars. The community also has deep roots, tracing its history back through Calusa settlements, 19th-century fishing camps, and early citrus farms.
