Carolina Forest is a fast-growing census-designated community in Horry County, west of Myrtle Beach and the Intracoastal Waterway. It was first listed as a CDP in the 2020 census, reflecting how quickly the area has filled in with subdivisions, schools, shopping, and roads. The larger tract also has a tie to Coastal Carolina University, with land donated in the 1960s for what became the campus. Carolina Forest is essentially inland Myrtle Beach growth made into a community.
